Our Process

After traveling, mining and cleaning we move on to the carving. Revealing the FIRE in fire agate is a long and meticulous process. Due to several extremely thin iron oxide layers which are sealed and preserved by additional transparent-semitransparent extremely thin layers of microcrystalline chalcedony. In this section, we will discuss some of the many tools we use along the way.

We are truly privileged to be able to work with this extraordinary material. Acquiring this skill has taken years, and we continue to learn new and effective ways to carve this gem.
